A Teacher's Call

Teaching is not merely a profession that brings you bread and butter, but a noble call.

We are building the future of our nation. This statement probably sounds cliche, but how true it is. Hence, watch what we say to our students, be responsible educators.

More than anything else, we are imparting values. So, teach the right things

Maybe I'm too used to the concept of forgivance that I assume it's available free flow everywhere.

At times, there are consequences to one's actions. Of course, we all hope to be spared, but if otherwise, well, maybe there are just certain things we have to live with

Rambling

It upsets me to hear someone over criticise another person/people. Particularly when it's over stuffs they can't quite control.

Sometimes, I can't help but think that the social defination of what's "acceptable" is getting narrower.

Given a choice, I guess most people would choose to be smart, good looking, cool etc

But fact is, how many really have that package? Or rather, someone who have most parts of the package but fall short somewhere, even if it's not too significant don't get spared.

Life is a whole lot bigger these. Seriously, just because one don't understand another person or that they don't fall into your defination of "good "doesn't mean the latter is wrong. I'm a strong believer that everyone is capable of far greater things and maybe, we should just make it our call to draw out that potential from people who cross our paths :)

The Simple Faith

From experiences, great things often happen after one takes the plunge of faith.

What I like most about the faith I choose to follow is how absolutely simple it is. Just obey and follow, and then wait for the good things to come. The good things has always been part of the package, just that human likes to complicate things by fighting for what they want. What's tragic about the latter is the unnecessary sacrifices along the way.

Being simple and follow the commandments always works best. Even if we don't get those extras, at least we live life as a good person

Rambling

Recently, I sort of slipped, sort of lost my footing.

Life is very much like moving against the tides, stop doing anything and you start moving backwards.

I'm no power seeker, but I seek meaning in life.

Lately, haven't really been vigilant in my spiritual walk. Basically I allowed myself to slip bit my bit, everyday. I told myself, well, God will understand.

I know I am slipping when the magic is wavering... hard to explain, or quite put it across in words effectively. But I know the very thing Ineed to do now, it's time to get back on track. Only one life, and I don't intend to waste it.

Rambling

If you don't have a purpose for your own life, someone else will have. Know where you are going and don't let the tides sway you around.

Gratifications such as power and money don't always bring you nearer to your life's goals.

Know your call, and live by it

You Are Extremely Charming

When someone talks to you, they feel like they are the most interesting person in the world.
And for you in that moment, they actually are.

You truly care about the people you're around, and it's obvious to everyone who meets you.
You are open, warm, friendly, and welcoming. You epitomize charm.

Are You Charming?

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

You Are "Billie Jean"

You are expressive and sentimental. You are easily effected by people, and you have a lot of emotional scars.
You have a way with words, and you know how to spin a compelling story. People love to listen to you talk.

You've had an interesting and dramatic life. You have quite a past, and people would be surprised to know what you've been through.
You've been heartbroken and also broken some hearts. Few people understand the bittersweetness of love as much as you do.

What Michael Jackson Song Are You?

Your Life is 82% Perfect

You truly have the perfect life. And you probably feel like the luckiest person in the world.
You have a great career, family, and personal life. You have it going on!

You Are 15% Left Brained, 85% Right Brained

http://www.blogthings.com/areyourightorleftbrained...

The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.
Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others.
If you're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic.
Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet.

The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility.
Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way.
If you're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art.
Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports.

You Are Silver

You are down to earth and unpretentious. You don't feel like you need to show off, and you're very secure with your place in the world.
You are understated and elegant. You carry yourself with poise, and you're more known for what you don't do than what you do.

You can fit in anywhere from a country western bar to a black tie gala. You are adaptable and adventurous.
You are blind to social class and background. You see people as who they are ... not as where they came from or how much money they have.

You Think Best While You're Driving

In order to be able to think, you need to be able to have time to think. Problem is, there isn't a lot of time for that in your life.
When you are driving, you are finally able to let your mind wander. And it wanders to some pretty interesting places.

Depending on the conditions, driving can make you feel elated, relaxed, or even frustrated. All of these varying emotions spark a lot of revelations.
While the thoughts you have while driving may have a lot of noise in them, there's definitely some insight to be found.

You Have A Type B+ Personality

You're a pro at going with the flow
You love to kick back and take in everything life has to offer
A total joy to be around, people crave your stability.

While you're totally laid back, you can have bouts of hyperactivity.
Get into a project you love, and you won't stop until it's done
You're passionate - just selective about your passions

Monday, October 05, 2009

You Are a Positive Person

No one would accuse you of being too negative!
You're a naturally upbeat and optimistic person.

Like everyone else, you come across things you can't stand every day.
But unlike everyone else, you ignore what annoys you and focus on what uplifts you.

You Will Be a Cool Parent

You seem to naturally know a lot about parenting, and you know what kids need.
You can tell when it's time to let kids off the hook, and when it's time to lay down the law.
While your parenting is modern and hip, it's not over the top.
You know that there's nothing cool about a parent who acts like a teenager... or a drill sergeant!

Your Inner Child Is Surprised

You see many things through the eyes of a child.
Meaning, you're rarely cynical or jaded.
You cherish all of the details in life.
Easily fascinated, you enjoy experiencing new things.

A Tribute to Selwyn Hughes

The work of a great man last beyond his life time.

For several years, "Every Day with Jesus" has been part my daily devotions, however, that stopped when the writer went home to the Lord in Jan 2006.

I was searching for some stuff in my store room and chanced upon some old copies of "Everyday with Jesus". I saw the titles and thought, hey, I could still use them for my devotions. As I read the pages, they bless me like they used to. Clarifying my doubts, correcting wrong ideas and assumptions. Each time I read a page from this publication, I feel that I am one step nearer to God.

It makes me realize, the work of a successful person doesn't end with his life on earth. A successful person always leave his legacy behind. Even way past his life time, his writing still impact lives, and does the same work they used to do.

Took this photo on my way home. Love Nature :)

Let Time Freeze

If there is one thing I can wish for, I'd ask for time to freeze. So often in my life, I wish the framework of time do not exist.

I don't like any phase of life to become the past. I don't want today to become history.

Won't it be great if time could just stand still, freeze at a particular stage of life......... for eternity

I guess, that's might be what heaven's like

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

I hate it when someone messed up and I have to cover for that person. Even when you know the person has done wrong, even when you know the person is unrepentent, even when you absolutely disagree with what the person is doing....... you still have to look at the big picture and somewhat clear the mess.

Significance

I've been away from my blog so long , people probably thought I have ditched it. Nope, I will never.

Today I'm overwhelmed with a deep sense of joy. For quite a while, I have been trying to transform a life. Someone overwhelmed with uncertainly and not doing things that helps resolve the situation.

I think the interesting thing about working with people ( as in, the main focus of your job is people) is that you can't really control the outcome. Unlike creating a design or doing a code, you can control the results. A lot of times, it's really trying to put things in place and then praying real hard after you have done all that you could.

Sometimes, when you thought it's a gone case, a miracle presents itself right before you. There is really nothing more satisfying than seeing a prodigal son returns. No wonder God never give up on us.

Watch Out for Me

Today I encountered an absolutely inconsiderate driver. This uncle was shaving while driving. The car was moving, one of his hands was holding the shaver and he was shaving. The other hand was brushing off whatever was shaven off. So unless he has some invisible hands controling the steering wheel......... duh........... What is this man's problem.

I mean, I expect a grown up man to have some basic discretion and considerations.

Seriously, life is precious, drive safely!

Memories

I was searching for stuff and chanced upon this catalogue with my picture in it. It's a catalogue for an event we did some time back and memories of that chapter flooded my mind.

Sometimes, I really do wonder, how many people out there are like me, very sentimental. I'm people oriented, and most of my memories, whether happy ones or not are closely tied to my experiences of people.

I remember a lot about the times I spend with people, the things we said, stuff we laugh about........ I can quote things people said years back but absent minded when it comes to some other things.

Sometimes, I look back at the moments that has past, I'd like to revisit them. So, I often wish that I can travel through time. More often, I wish the framework of time do not even exist. I just don't like to move on with life, and leave some stages behind

I'm Finally Back

It has been two months since I was last seen. Where have I been.

Things has been totally crazy, rushing the many many assignments and projects on my hands. I almost choked to death. Been waking up at crazy hours, like 4am to rush projects.

I felt like I was cut off from the world............. responding to what was urgent, and ignoring what's really important. Would you believe I have not met my family for that period?

Good thing, things has more or less clear up and I can finally catch up with the things, people that means the most to me. My friends and family.

Really feel so bad for my sudden long disappearance.

Oh, and I finally met up with small fish for dinner yesterday. We're back to our fav sushi-ing. Talked about many many things.

But she said she has been sending me sms-es, but I din receive. Last night she sent me two, I still din receive them. It's either her phone or........... erm......

Anyway, am glad I finally have all that breathing space now................. air feels extra fresh

Random Rumbling

Before you read further, this entry is really very randam, lots of words but not talking about anything in particular. I'm just rambling

I'm in a blogging mood, but with all that thoughts and sentiments going on at the same time, really dun know where to start or how I should even go about it

Lately I have been rather occupied with a few things, that's why haven't been meeting friends for a while. Gosh, sure miss them. Yah, friends are important, I cherish friends, so even if haven't catch up for a while, will still keep them in mind...... or message them etc. Yah, I'm a message person, dun like calls. And of course, to catch up once I can.

Somehow, I have an overwhelming mixture of emotions which is not conclusive. Can't decide what it is. I'm very joyful, nothing in particular makes me very joyful, except the kind of joy mentioned in the bible. I'm nervous too, because tomorrow I've got a presentation.

Oh, I'm totally sad about this year's mother's day. Planned for a big surprised, but things din happen. I'm a little lost about it........... no, have to make up somehow

Many things has happened lately which made me think through many many stuffs. I like the way life experiences make us smarter, wiser and more discerning. I love how they chisel our personalities and constantly build us.

Btw, I've got a new passport. It looks like a big IC pasted on a booklet. Cool

And yah, rock is looking for me. I'm supposed to contact him. Oops, slip my mind. better call soon :)

The Friendliest Stranger

I was waiting for the fitting room and this lady besides me suddenly turned and talked to me. For a moment, I thought she recognised the wrong person -_-'"

Her: " Wow, this skirt is very nice (touching it while talking to me)

Me: (With a smile) "yah"

She talked to me as if she knows me all her life

Her: "This type can wear for work yah"

Me:(grin and melt into the fitting room)

After trying, I decided to pick a top to go with it. She was out of her fitting room too

Her: "Hey, you haven't tried it yet ah?"

Me: (dashed into fitting room and stayed there for quite a while)

Grin, actually I don't mind that friendliness. Strangers like this makes the world a warmer place, just that I was a little caught by surprised that day.

Hello Again

I decided that it's time to update my blog before it goes dead. Gosh...... time certainly flies :P

Actually, I do have stuff I wanna talk about here........ but I'm really tired, sleepy, and mentally, I'm too occupied right now to pen down my sentiments here.

So, I shall write about things another time.

Lately, I captured some nice pics. They are not great in the technical sense, if you measure them in terms of photographic skills. But they capture my sentiments and emotions, so everytime I see them, they trigger certain feelings................

Listening Room

This is what I learned today:

[If you mistreat people who are mistreating you, you will make matter worse]

[We overcome bad with good]

[When somebody hurts you, the only way to truely overcome is not to hurt the person back but by showing them mercy, forgiving them and doing what is right]

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. Psalms 32:8

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time, we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, we we have opportunity, let us do good to all people............... Galat8ahs 6:9-10

The Shortcut of Life

Today's message by Pastor made me think about a few things about life and stuff. I have been pondering about the sermon and wondering how to improve as a person.

I realized that in life, there is really no easy way out to anything. If you want something, you have to work for it. There is a Chinese phrase that says something like "A one minute performance on stage takes ten years of practices". Therefore, behind every glamorous success is really tons of hard work.

Hence, it is important to adopt a courageous attitude towards life. That's because many things that we attempt to do, we might probably fail a couple of times. But dun give up and label ourselves as failures. If we keep trying and trying, we will succeed one day.

No one can learn to walk without first falling.

It Touches Me a Second Time

I guess one of the best things which can happen in a person's life is when somewhere, somehow, something we did, say or wrote touches someone else and lift up his/her spirit.

It is even more interesting when something we wrote awhile back comes around and touches us second time.

Lately, i felt that I'm not the producing results I've wanted and I felt rather fustrated about it. I mean, didn't I do my best, didn't I pray for results......... then why isn't it going the way I've expected? Just when I was reflecting about this........... someone chanced upon an entry I wrote quite a while back and hightlight it to our CG.

I shall repost it here:

Listening Room
I'm on the book of Proverbs right now. During my listening room, one particular verse caught my attention and spoke to me in a special way.

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.Proverbs 1:3

This is how my Life Application Bible Interprets the verse:
There are different ways to fail to commit whatever we do to the Lord. Some people commit their work only superficially. They say the project is being done for the Lord, but in reality they are doing it for themselves. Others give God temporary control of their interest, only to take control back the moment things stop going the way they expect. Still others commit a task fully to the Lord, but put forth no effort themselves, and then they wonder why they do not succeed.

We must maintain a delicate balance: trusting God as if everything depended on him, while working as of everything depended on us.

Interestingly, this seems to be the theme for my day. I started the day with this thought, and ended the day, chancing upon this verse.

I was just thinking, so often, we treat God like He's a genie in a bottle, asking for things to go our way.

Lately, I have made some personal discovery. I realized that I can live my life in fullness only when I surrender my all in all. Whatever we think is best for us may not really be the best for us. When I tell God, whatever I do, all I want is just to glorify Him, to worship Him by putting in my best efforts.................. I get amazing results. It's hard to explain this, one has got to experience it to understand this feeling of freedom. This feels like getting a pair of wings.

This is so totally cool because it reminded me once again, my intentions behind actions. Who am I really doing the project for?

All these weeks, I have been trying to get God to do things my way, to give me the exact results that I wanted. But hey, look, who's God here.

I am reminded, that I live my life to serve Him, not the other way round. I'm reminded not to treat God life a genie in a bottle or try to fight His battle. Just do my best and He'll know how to use my efforts purposefully.

I'm flesh and blood. I have my weaknesses, fears........ and reservations about many things. But everyday is a new opportunity to live life better. Even a small step of improvement will make one a better person.

A Christmas Dinner Joke

Got this from an email. Seen it before but it simply just makes me laugh.........

A Christmas Dinner Joke

A woman goes to her boyfriend's parents' house for Christmas dinner.

This is to be her first time meeting the family and she is very nervous.
They all sit down and begin eating a fine meal.

The woman is beginning to feel a little discomfort, thanks to her nervousness and the broccoli casserole. The gas pains are almost making her eyes water. Left with no other choice, she decides to relieve herself a bit and lets out a dainty fart !

It wasn't loud, but everyone at the table heard the poof. Before she even had a chance to be embarrassed, her boyfriend's father looked over at the dog that had been snoozing under the woman's chair, and said in a rather stern voice, 'Skippy!'.

The woman thought, 'This is great!' and a big smile came across her face.

A couple of minutes later, she was beginning to feel the pain again.

This time, she didn't even hesitate. She let a much louder and longer rrrrrip.

The father again looked at the dog and yelled, 'Dammit Skippy!'

Once again the woman smiled and thought 'Yes!' A few minutes later the woman had to let another rip. This time she didn't even think about it.

She let a fart rip that rivaled a train whistle blowing.

Once again, the father looked at the dog with disgust and yelled, 'Dammit Skippy, get away from her, before she shits on you!'

Tagboard

Dear friends,

As you have probably noticed, I have removed my tagboard. Some irritating people have been spamming in my tagboard so much that it was crowded with spam message. It was practically impossible to have a proper conversation on the tagboard.

So it's back to the usual comments options.

The Professional MIA-der

As small fish always say, I have officially MIAed. I realised that I am really good at being Missing in Action.

Sometimes, an overly packed scheduled can be frightening. So often, I find myself buried in assignments, projects and stuffs....... and before I know it, many many months has passed.

The second half of this year has been expectionally busy. Took on so many things and got my hands so full. Before I know it, its the end of 2007.

Don't get me wrong, I value my friends and cherish friendships trememdously. But thing is, when I'm busy rushing stuff......... everything else sort of just get neglected for a while. In fact, Dad gets worried when he doesn't see me for too long.

This is bad......... very very bad...............

I really need to pay more attention to the people around me. Seriously, I repent :(

I'm never someone one who set resolutions. But for this once, I resolve to pay more attention to my dear friends and family members. Even if we can't find time to meet, pehaps a call or sms will show that I care.

Silence Please

Trying to rush a deadline with all that drilling and hammering noise going on just behind my wall is painfully torturous. Urgh.......

New neighbors renovating. And they have to drill and hammer just when I need to concentrate on my work. It's driving me insane.

Deadline is round the corner and pressure is up to my throat.

Rambling

I was just pondering about how easy it is for others to misinterpret our intentions. It is rather shocking how people can sometimes assume things so differently......... and are so firm that their assumptions are gospel truth.

Frightening.

I also find it hard to understand why there are people who would think that when we do something good for someone, we actually have a hidden agenda or expect something in return in the long term. Seriously, I don't understand that rationale.

Chanced upon this while cruising along:

"Other people's opinion of you does not have to become your reality.."

Yah........ sometimes we just need to do what we need to do, to the best of our ability........ and constantly seek to improve........... and all these, shall be done with the best intention. I guess this is enough. I'm really not very interested in those strange schools of thoughts.

Where Are You?

Tomorrow is 1st Nov 07, a date with significant meaning for me. It marks the entry into a new phase of life for me. Interestingly, I got the following from an email from my CG leader. How timely :)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Where Are You?

This was the first question God asked. (Genesis 3:9).

Did God not know where Adam was? It was a searching question for Adam who was faced with the first impact of sin and disobedience. Adam was hiding from the Lord and was soon to be expelled from the place of paradise.

In the Old Testament, much of God's blessings for His people are tied to the place they were to be in or to go to. Three blessings follow us when we are in the place where God has called us to be.

Firstly, it will be a place of Faith. You will find faith and you will be able to exercise your faith. Faith is what helps us to activate the promises of God for our life.

Secondly, It will be a place of Freedom. You will be able to grow with God's purposes for your life and be released to use your talents and your giftings to be a blessing to others. You will enjoy the anointing, authority and the resources to do your work well.

Thirdly, it will be a place of Fruitfulness. You will be like a "tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers." (Psalm 1:3)

Dumbledore

Rather disappointed by the little additional info revealed about Dumbledore lately. Erm..... Dumbledore and gay just doesn't click. He looks for like a sentimental old man who has a quiet but touching story about a woman he loves somewhere in the distance past.

Well, if the creator of this story says so......... nothing we can say. Just rather ..... well...... disappointed

Don't worry, I honestly dun mind at all. NAh, one has to joke to make life more fun and interesting right?

Waiting (Part 2)

I hate waiting....... it test my patience....... and it test my faith.

But it also helps my faith to grow.

In the mist of waiting, I came to realise, if it's God's Will, it will come to pass. If it doesn't come to pass, then it is not God's will.

I have learned the serenity of accepting the way things are meant to be

P.S. You see my Meez online doll? Notice the clothes and animation changes but the background doesn't? That's means I have been locked in the same room doing serious stuff for many days already

Waiting

Don't blame me, but growing up in a fast paced society has conditioned my mind in such a way that I want things done fast. It's habitual I would say.

Therefore, I always find it so difficult when I have to wait for God's perfect timing for things to come to pass.

Urgh......... waiting is a struggle for me

Efficiency

I was running late this morning. Being someone very on time and responsible(Ahem), I decided to call a cab to ensure I reach on time.

Would you believe it, the cab arrived when I was still on the phone booking it. That's what I call efficiency :D

When I board it, the driver told me he happen to see my call when he was just around my block, so quickly take the job.

Wah, I felt a little cheated of the booking fees

Becoming A Leader

Over the last decade, I have been persuaded to lead a cg in church. In fact, I was sent for and have completed leaders' training. My church is structured in such a way that you'll be mentored by somebody and in turn, you'll mentor some other people. I used to avoid this subject. In fact, if you ask me one year ago, I'll tell you it's not time yet.

Lately, I came across this verse which had somehow impacted me so much that I wouldn't stop thinking about it:

“I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you asked in my name........................” John 14:12

Visions have birth forth ever since. I began see myself becoming what my leaders were always encouraging me to be.

For a long time, people have been contributing into my life. Teaching me skills and ways of life. I have reached a point which I really want to contribute in a magnitude I've never done before. It is difficult to put my thoughts across. To put it simply, I just want to make a difference.

Project comes and goes. Things are changing all the time. However, the impact we make in the lives of others will last.
